Dwyane Wade and Daughter Zaya Launch ‘Translatable’: An Online Community for Transgender Youth

Dwyane Wade, a former NBA star, and his daughter Zaya have launched an online community called Translatable, aimed at supporting transgender children and their families. This initiative was inspired by Zaya, who publicly came out as transgender in 2020. The community is designed to be a safe space for transgender youth of color to express themselves and find support. It’s funded by the Wade Family Foundation and supported by organizations like the Human Rights Campaign and The Trevor Project.

The launch of Translatable was announced at the Make Good Famous Summit in Miami Beach, where Dwyane Wade was awarded the Elevate Prize Catalyst Award. The award, which includes $250,000 in unrestricted funding, will be used to further develop and support the Translatable community.

The initiative is a response to the challenges faced by transgender individuals, particularly in the current political climate. It emphasizes the importance of community and connection in helping to protect and support transgender youth and their families.
